BLACKWOOD ships in three acts, and the developer laid out the whole plan in a single Steam post on the day the release date went out. Two things about Act 2 are on the record: a target month, and the fact that it costs existing owners nothing. Most of the rest is not announced yet, and this page says so rather than filling the gap.
When does BLACKWOOD Act 2 come out
March 2027. That is the entire answer the developer has given, and it is a month rather than a date.
From the official Steam announcement BLACKWOOD - Release Date Announcement:
"Our current release plan is: Act 1: September 16, 2026 / Act 2: March 2027 / Act 3: September 2027. The six-month spacing between acts shows our current development roadmap. These future dates are the planned targets, and we'll share more information as development progresses."
Act 3 sits at September 2027 in the same post, on the same six-month spacing. Act 1 is scheduled for September 16, 2026 — as of 2026-09-16 the Steam listing had not yet gone live with a purchasable price, so check the store page for Act 1's current status rather than trusting a date written here.
Our reading: a target month published roughly six months ahead, by a studio that has not shipped its first act yet, is a planning figure. The developer flagging it as a planned target is doing the same work. We are not running a clock on this page, because there is no day to run one to. If a specific day turns up in an official post, it will be here.
Is Act 2 free if you already own BLACKWOOD
Yes. This is official, not our reading of it. From the same announcement, word for word:
"When you purchase BLACKWOOD, you are purchasing the full game, not just Act 1. All future acts will be provided as free updates to existing owners. If you buy BLACKWOOD at launch, you will not need to purchase Act 2 or Act 3 separately."
That covers people who already own the game. What a new buyer pays is a separate question, and the answer changes when Act 2 lands — see the next section.
Buy now or wait for all three acts
We are not going to pick for you. Here is the part that actually differs between the two choices, all of it announced:
| Window | Announced base price for new buyers |
|---|---|
| During Act 1 | $24.99 |
| After the Act 2 update | $29.99 |
| After the Act 3 update | $34.99 |
Existing owners pay none of those increases. The developer's own framing of the tradeoff:
"There's no requirement to purchase early, but those who choose to support us from Act 1 will receive the entire eventual experience at the lowest price."
Regional pricing, discounts, tax-inclusive figures and what the store actually charges today are all on how much BLACKWOOD costs. This page stops at the ladder.
What Act 2 adds to the game
Four main story missions — the same count as Act 1. That is the only number announced for Act 2's contents, and it comes straight from the developer:
"The current structure is: Act 1: 4 main missions / Act 2: 4 main missions / Act 3: 5 main missions. These numbers refer to the main story missions only. Each act also includes multiple side missions and additional content, giving players more to experience beyond the main story."
Beyond mission count, the developer has described what each act brings in general terms:
"As the game expands, each act will also bring additions such as new collectibles, achievements, takedowns, weapons, enemy variations, and other side content where applicable."
Note the "where applicable" — that phrasing is the developer's, and it is doing real work. None of those additions is promised specifically for Act 2.
The gap between acts is also not announced as dead air:
"During the periods between major act releases, patches can introduce new side missions and other smaller pieces of content."
What is not announced: mission names, locations, characters, or any story beat in Act 2. We are not reconstructing those from trailer footage. The three-act structure itself is covered on the story page.
What the Supporter Edition gets from Acts 2 and 3
The Supporter Edition was announced on 2026-09-15 at $29.99, and it carries exactly one sentence about later acts:
"The Supporter Edition will also continuously receive new content as Acts 2 and 3 are released."
That is the whole official statement. Its launch contents are itemised — a Neon Divide Film Outfit, a Specter Vanguard Handgun, $500 Clean Cash and $5,000 Dirty Cash — but nothing has been said about what the later additions are, or on what schedule.
Two prices on this page read the same and are not the same thing. $29.99 is what the Supporter Edition costs, from the 2026-09-15 post. The $29.99 in the table above is the announced base price of a standard copy after the Act 2 update. Neither announcement says anything about how the two relate, so do not read one as turning into the other.
What is still unknown about Act 2
Three questions come up constantly and have no official answer as of 2026-09-16. We would rather name them than paper over them:
- The exact release day. not announced Only the month, March 2027, and the developer calls it a planned target.
- Whether Act 1 saves and gear carry into Act 2. not announced The developer has said the three acts are one purchase and one game, but no post has stated how progression is handled across an act update. That is a reasonable expectation, not a statement anyone has made.
- What is actually in Act 2. not announced Four main missions is the number; the content behind them has not been described.
"Not announced" is the accurate status for all three — not "never happening", and not "the developer is hiding it". Each will be settled by an official post, and we track those on the updates page.
FAQ
When does BLACKWOOD Act 2 come out?
The official roadmap puts Act 2 in March 2027. No day of the month has been announced, and the developer describes the date as a planned target rather than a fixed one.
Do I have to pay again for Act 2 if I already own BLACKWOOD?
No. The official announcement states that all future acts will be provided as free updates to existing owners, and that buyers will not need to purchase Act 2 or Act 3 separately.
Should I buy now or wait until all three acts are out?
That is your call, and the developer says as much: there is no requirement to purchase early. What is on the record is the price ladder. Act 1 buyers pay $24.99 and receive Acts 2 and 3 at no extra cost, while the base price for new buyers is announced to rise to $29.99 after Act 2 and $34.99 after Act 3.
Will my Act 1 save and gear carry over into Act 2?
Not announced. The developer has said the three acts are one purchase and one game, but no official post has stated how saves or progression are handled across an act update. Treat any answer you see elsewhere as a guess until the developer says otherwise.
What is in Act 2?
Officially, 4 main story missions, plus side missions and additional content. The developer has also said each act brings new collectibles, achievements, takedowns, weapons and enemy variations where applicable. No mission names, locations or story details have been announced.
