BLACKWOOD news comes from one place: the studio posts its announcements on the game's Steam news page. This page lists every one of them in date order, says what each announcement actually contained, and marks the rows that come from a third-party outlet rather than from the studio.
The most recent announcement is the BLACKWOOD Supporter Edition post of September 15, 2026, which put the Supporter Edition at $29.99 and said the game had passed 230,000 wishlists. Act 1 is announced for September 16, 2026; as of September 16, 2026 the Steam listing had not yet gone live, so nothing here has been checked against a playable build.

Two rows are not the studio's own wording. The October 2025 window is where two independent outlets, Gematsu and Eneba, first covered the game — that is media reporting, not an announcement, and it predates the earliest post on the Steam news page. The September 16 row is the release date field on the Steam store listing itself, which matches the date given in the August 26 announcement.
What each announcement said
Inside BLACKWOOD: Character Art, Mocap, Gameplay — December 7, 2025
A development log covering character art, motion capture and gameplay. It is also the source of the studio's one-line description of the game: "Set in Brooklyn, 2012, you play as Anton Blackwood, a quiet DVD store owner by day, and a contract killer drawn into the city's criminal underworld by night." Everything the studio has published about the man himself is collected on Anton Blackwood.
Everything You Need to Know About BLACKWOOD — January 25, 2026
The full mechanics rundown, and the announcement most of this site traces back to: the core day-and-night loop, the two separate wallets of clean and dirty cash, the bills that come due on the shop and the apartment, and the Combat Choreography System. The two pages that unpack those systems are the two-wallet economy and bills and overdue notices.
BLACKWOOD - Gameplay Deep Dive — July 22, 2026
A written deep dive into the apartment, the dual economy, weapon modification and the black market. It goes over the same systems as the January post in more detail rather than introducing new ones. The money side of it is pulled together on how to make money.
BLACKWOOD Is Coming To Gamescom 2026! — August 17, 2026
An event announcement: BLACKWOOD would be shown at Gamescom 2026. The recap of how that went is the September 2 post further down.
BLACKWOOD - Release Date Announcement — August 26, 2026
The post that locked September 16, 2026 for Act 1. It also set out the price ladder across the three acts — $24.99 / $29.99 / $34.99 — and stated that BLACKWOOD is not an Early Access release, and it is where the planned Act 2 and Act 3 months come from. What each step of that ladder covers is on price and what you get.
Gamescom Recap! — September 2, 2026
A recap of the studio's Gamescom 2026 appearance, closing with thanks. It was the last post before the Supporter Edition announcement two weeks later.
BLACKWOOD Supporter Edition — September 15, 2026
Posted the day before Act 1's scheduled release, and titled "BLACKWOOD Supporter Edition Available September 16th!" — the same day as Act 1. For $29.99, the announcement says you start the game with four things: a Neon Divide Film Outfit, a Specter Vanguard Handgun, $500 Clean Cash and $5,000 Dirty Cash. It adds that "the Supporter Edition will also continuously receive new content as Acts 2 and 3 are released." The same post is where the 230,000+ wishlists figure comes from. How the Supporter Edition is actually sold is covered on price and what you get.
The roadmap ahead
The August 26 announcement laid out a planned roadmap: Act 2 around March 2027 and Act 3 around September 2027, both as free updates, with the price of the game stepping up across the three acts ($24.99 / $29.99 / $34.99). Those months are what the studio has listed as planned — neither act has a confirmed release date, and no day-level date has been published for either. The detail on the second act sits on Act 2 release date and free update, and the pricing detail on price and what you get.
Where official news is posted
Four channels carry official BLACKWOOD news:
- Steam news page — store.steampowered.com/news/app/3639070 — all seven announcements above were posted here.
- Discord — discord.gg/Tf23RCdzu2
- X — @Blackwood_game
- YouTube — AttritoM7 Productions — trailers and gameplay videos.
The studio's own website blog is not one of them. All nine posts listed there, dated April 2025 to August 2026, are about the studio's other game, ZERO HOUR — platform launches, tournaments and sales. Not one of them is a BLACKWOOD announcement, so the Steam news page is the channel to watch.
