What BLACKWOOD costs

All three figures come verbatim from the official Steam announcement published on 2026-08-26. The act timings use the developer's own approximate wording, so treat them as intentions rather than dates.

Two limits worth stating plainly, because this is exactly where price pages usually mislead people:

• The figures above are US dollars. We have no official regional price list and no tax-inclusive figure, so we are not converting anything. If you are buying outside the US store, the number on your own store page is the only correct one.
• We have not verified the live store listing. Our source material was collected on 2026-09-15, the day before the announced launch, at which point the store data still returned no live price field. This page was written on 2026-09-16 and carries the announced price, not a confirmed shelf price.

What one purchase includes

The announcement puts this under a heading of its own, "One Purchase, Three Acts", and the wording is direct:

So one purchase gets you Act 1 now, and Acts 2 and 3 when they ship, with nothing further to buy. There is no season pass, no act bundle and no upgrade path to pay for, because there is nothing to upgrade to.

Do Act 2 and Act 3 cost extra

No — and this is official, not our reading of it. The sentence "all future acts will be provided as free updates to existing owners" is the developer's own, and the same policy appears in the store description.

What the rising base price means is worth separating from that, because the two get confused:

• Official: the base price rises with each act — $24.99, then $29.99, then $34.99. The stated reason is that players who buy during Act 1 "will receive the complete game as it releases, while paying the lowest price at which the game will be available".
• Our reading of it (inferred from those two official statements): the ladder is a base price going up over time as content is added, not a countdown sale. Buying later costs more because the base price is higher by then — not because a discount expired. Nobody who already owns the game is ever billed the difference.

Launch discounts and regional prices

We are not going to tell you there is a launch discount, and we are not going to tell you there is not one. unconfirmed — no official material we hold mentions a launch promotion, an end date, or a percentage, and we have not checked the live listing since 2026-09-15. Any page that gives you a countdown for BLACKWOOD without citing an official end date is guessing.

The same applies to regional pricing and tax. We have the US dollar figures and nothing else. Open the Steam store page in your own account and read the number there.

Demos and free versions

BLACKWOOD is a paid game. The Steam store data reported it as not free when we last checked on 2026-09-15, which matches the announcement.

On demos, one detail gets misreported often enough to be worth spelling out. The developer did prepare what the announcement calls the game's "first-ever demo build", and it was shown at the Infernozilla booth at Gamescom 2026. That was a show-floor build you could play at the event. It is not the same thing as a demo on the Steam store page, and as of 2026-09-15 the store listing carried no downloadable demo at all. If one has appeared since, it will be on the store page.

DLC and deluxe editions

As of 2026-09-15 the store listing carried no DLC entries and no alternate or deluxe edition — there is one product to buy. That is consistent with the act policy above: if later acts are free updates, there is no natural place for a paid content pack in the current plan.
