What BLACKWOOD costs

All three figures come verbatim from the official Steam announcement published on 2026-08-26. The act timings use the developer's own approximate wording, so treat them as intentions rather than dates.

Two limits worth stating plainly, because this is exactly where price pages usually mislead people:

• The figures above are US dollars. We have no official regional price list and no tax-inclusive figure, so we are not converting anything. If you are buying outside the US store, the number on your own store page is the only correct one.
• The live price is a snapshot, not a feed. We read the Steam store data for the US store on September 17, 2026, and it showed $22.49 — the $24.99 base price with a 10% launch discount applied. That is what the store said on that date. No end date for the discount has been announced, and the listing can change after we read it.

What one purchase includes

The announcement puts this under a heading of its own, "One Purchase, Three Acts", and the wording is direct:

So one purchase gets you Act 1 now, and Acts 2 and 3 when they ship, with nothing further to buy. There is no season pass, no act bundle and no upgrade path to pay for, because there is nothing to upgrade to.

Do Act 2 and Act 3 cost extra

No — and this is official, not our reading of it. The sentence "all future acts will be provided as free updates to existing owners" is the developer's own, and the same policy appears in the store description.

What the rising base price means is worth separating from that, because the two get confused:

• Official: the base price rises with each act — $24.99, then $29.99, then $34.99. The stated reason is that players who buy during Act 1 "will receive the complete game as it releases, while paying the lowest price at which the game will be available".
• Our reading of it (inferred from those two official statements): the ladder is a base price going up over time as content is added, not a countdown sale. Buying later costs more because the base price is higher by then — not because a discount expired. Nobody who already owns the game is ever billed the difference.

Launch discounts and regional prices

There is a launch discount and it is 10%. When we read the Steam store data on September 17, 2026, the US store showed $22.49 against the $24.99 base price. What we do not have is a deadline: neither the announcements nor the store data we read states when the discount stops, so this page carries no countdown. Any page that gives you one for BLACKWOOD without citing an official date is guessing.

The same applies to regional pricing and tax. We have the US dollar figures and nothing else. Open the Steam store page in your own account and read the number there.

Demos and free versions

BLACKWOOD is a paid game. The Steam store data reported it as not free when we last checked on 2026-09-15, which matches the announcement.

On demos, one detail gets misreported often enough to be worth spelling out. The developer did prepare what the announcement calls the game's "first-ever demo build", and it was shown at the Infernozilla booth at Gamescom 2026. That was a show-floor build you could play at the event. It is not the same thing as a demo on the Steam store page, and as of 2026-09-15 the store listing carried no downloadable demo at all. If one has appeared since, it will be on the store page.

Supporter Edition and DLC

There is a second thing to buy, announced the day before launch. On 2026-09-15 the developer announced the Supporter Edition at $29.99 USD, arriving alongside Act 1 on 2026-09-16. The announcement lists exactly four items, described as perks you start the game with:

One forward-looking line comes with it: "The Supporter Edition will also continuously receive new content as Acts 2 and 3 are released." The announcement does not say what that content will be, so neither do we.

How it is sold: the Supporter Edition is listed on Steam as DLC attached to the base game, and that entry is now open. It carried a price of $4.99 USD in the store data we read on September 17, 2026, and the announcement that introduced it was titled "BLACKWOOD Supporter Edition Available September 16th!" — launch day. The store page is the authority on what it costs you right now.

One coincidence worth heading off: $29.99 appears twice in BLACKWOOD's pricing and the two are unrelated. One is the Supporter Edition price today. The other is the announced base price of the ordinary game after the Act 2 update, targeted around March 2027. Buying the Supporter Edition now is not the same transaction as buying the plain game later at the same number.

Against the $24.99 base price, the DLC adds $4.99, and the four items above are what that covers. Our reading: $24.99 plus $4.99 comes to $29.98, a cent under the $29.99 the announcement quotes — "For $29.99, you'll start the game with the following perks" — so that figure reads as base game plus DLC together, rounded up by a cent, not $29.99 charged on top of the game. The store sells the two as separate purchases. That arithmetic is ours; the announcement never spells the split out. We are not going to tell you whether the $4.99 is worth it: we have not played the edition, and the announcement never says what the outfit, the handgun or the cash do in play.

Where the numbers come from

Everything on this page traces back to three official sources: the Steam announcement "BLACKWOOD - Release Date Announcement" published 2026-08-26, the Steam announcement "BLACKWOOD Supporter Edition Available September 16th!" published 2026-09-15, and the Steam store API (appdetails) for the game and its DLC, checked on 2026-09-15, on 2026-09-16 and again on September 17, 2026 — the September 17 reading is where the $22.49, the 10% and the $4.99 come from. No third-party site, video or aggregator was used for any figure here, because pricing is a first-party fact and second-hand copies of it age badly.

Where we have gone past what those sources literally say — the reading that the price ladder is a base-price increase rather than a limited-time sale — we have said so in place rather than presenting it as official.
